Laps for Kids Meetings - Sunday 8/21 & Monday 8/22

Sunday, August 14th, 2005

A few quick announcements before the next Fast 4 Kids Foundation meeting…

Gary Kannegiesser, Laps for Kids World Record race team captain
(www.lapsforkids.com), will fly in from Ohio mid-morning on Sunday 8/21 and be
with us for the Monday night meeting.  He is scheduling meetings both days with
any potential sponsors, committee leaders, etc.  PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP
WHO/WHEN SHOULD BE IN THIS LINE-UP SO THAT WE CAN PROPERLY BOOK HIS TIME.

The dates for the Laps for Kids dinner/tournament have been shifted to better
tie in with the Guinness World Record activities.  Dinner/auction will now be
on Saturday 12/3 (instead of Friday 12/2) so that attendees will feel the
excitement first-hand of the world record attempt in action!  Outback has been
incredibly generous and gracious in working around a previously conflicting
catering commitment so that they can donate food/service.  We appreciate their ongoing support at our events!

The golf tournament moves to Sunday 12/4 morning.  When the golfers complete
their straight and long drives at Whirlwind, they’ll be returning to Bondurant
in time to witness the Laps for Kids team break the karting World Record and
each take their own hot laps on the winning race course.  Bondurant will be
open to the public to celebrate and cheer on these victory laps as well.  Cody
Hayes of State Mortgage has stepped up to coordinate youth bands (marching,
jazz, and rock) to provide entertainment for the afternoon.  Thanks!  Namaste
:)

Together making a difference,
Jacqueline

UPDATE: F4K Foundation Meeting - MONDAY 08/22/05 7-9 PM:

We will have Gary Kannegiesser from the Laps for Kids world record team fly in

hour endurance karting world record at Bondurant while also raising $1 million
dollars for the Victory Junction Gang (http://www.lapsforkids.com).  Fast 4

DIRECTIONS TO F4K FOUNDATION MEETING

The next Fast 4 Kids Foundation meeting will be held next week on Monday night
(08/22/05) at 7 PM.  Please note the location and meet us at:

American Fidelity
6900 E. Camelback Road
2nd Floor Conference Room
Scottsdale, AZ  85251

Many thanks to Michael Brown for making this meeting space possible!  This is
the AMTRUST building, directly next to Niemen Marcus at Scottsdale Fashion
Square, on the NW corner of Camelback Road and Goldwater.  Everyone can park in front of the building.

This is a card-access secured building, so someone will be at the front to let
you in up until 7 PM.  If for any reason you are running late, please call
602.758.1558 so that we know and can let you in.  So that we do not have to
continually interrupt the meeting by leaving the conference room to run
downstairs and let people into the building, please plan on being on time.

Community Support - http://www.f4k.us/events.htm
—————————————————————————-
The summer heat is ON and community generosity is ON FIRE!  Once again, Fast 4 Kids’ promotion far exceeded expectations at the Monti’s Raffle Benefit (8/4) hosted by James and Bob Woolsey, cousins to Dakota Johnson.  Dakota is a 13 year old boy who was recently diagnosed with desmoplastic small roundcell tumor and is being treated by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  The family was overwhelmed by the support and attendance.  The donations at the door, silent auction, and raffle ticket sales generated over $3000 to assist the family to overcome the extensive cost of the treatment.  Another auction/raffle will be held in Illinois on August 20th.  Details about the upcoming event can be found at http://www.f4k.us/2005-08-events.htm.

Have You Heard About Laps for Kids? - http://www.lapsforkids.com
—————————————————————————-
Fast 4 Kids’ next BIG PUSH will be to have everyone at Bondurant for the December 2-4 Laps for Kids’ Guinness Book of World’s Records attempt.  The Highest Go-Kart Mileage record for 24 hours on an outdoor circuit by a four-man team is 1,062.5 miles (1,709.9 km).  It was set in 1997 by a team in Northern Ireland.  On December 5, the record will hopefully belong to the American Laps for Kids team and also raise $1 Million for Victory Junction Gang Camp (http://www.victoryjunction.org)!  We need help in planning the event… email 4kids at f4k.us TODAY if you’d like to be on the committee!

In conjunction with the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving (http://www.bondurant.com), the Fast 4 Kids Foundation partners in driving towards this Million Dollar Drive by presenting a Golf Tournament on Saturday, December 3rd, 2005.  The tournament features a $1 million shootout, Bondurant hot laps and Autocross competition.  A variety of tournament sponsorships are available, including presenting, beverage, mulligan, lunch and awards reception spots, all of which include tickets to the Dinner/Auction event on December 2nd, 2005, held at the Bondurant Museum, where racing legend Bob Bondurant will preside as honorary chairperson (http://www.bondurant.com/pages/bobhistory.html).

When was the last time that you had the opportunity to be a part of Guinness World Record history AND have your involvement enrich the lives of children?  Come join the Million Dollar Drive and take a victory lap for kids with us!

Julia Brokaw is the focus of a Fast 4 Kids fundraising campaign to assist with her medical expenses.  Julia was diagnosed with High Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and doctors at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia performed a life-saving bone marrow transplant on March 30, 2005. Read about how her sister’s bone marrow transplant saved Jules’ life
(http://independent.gmnews.com/news/2005/0713/Front_Page/039.html).

Find out more about Julia and click on the link to make a contribution on Jules’ COTA donation page on F4K’s website (http://www.fast4kids.org).  The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) provides fundraising assistance for children and young adults needing life-saving transplants and promotes organ, marrow and tissue donation.  Funds raised will go directly towards her transplant-related expenses.
