Fast 4 Kids and Bondurant SuperKart Partner for World Record Event
Golf Tournament Proceeds to Benefit Kids with Disease and Disability
The Fast 4 Kids Foundation, an Arizona-based non-profit that is “Driving Fast 4 Kids with Cancer,” announces its support and participation in the 2005 Laps for Kids World Record Drive, to benefit Victory Junction Gang Camp and local charities. Fast 4 Kids, Laps for Kids, and Victory Junction Gang Camp are charitable organizations with a racing theme that aim to improve the lives of children.
Earlier this year, Laps for Kids announced an attempt to raise an unprecedented $1 million on December 10 & 11, 2005 at Bondurant SuperKart School in Chandler, AZ. Their kart team is set to challenge the Guinness World Record for the Highest Go-Kart Mileage in 24 hours on an outdoor circuit by a four-man team. The race team includes team captain Gary Kannegiesser, national karting champion Alan Rudolph, rising young driver Tim Megenbier, plus a driver yet to be named. The final driver will be selected in a driver search by one of their sponsors.
In conjunction with the Bondurant SuperKart School, the Fast 4 Kids Foundation will partner in driving towards Laps for Kids’ fundraising goal by hosting a charity golf tournament on Sunday morning, December 11th, 2005, at the Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, AZ. The tournament features a $1 million shootout, Bondurant victory hot laps and auto cross contest. Foursomes and a variety of tournament sponsorships are available, all of which include tickets to a dinner/auction event at the Bondurant Museum on Saturday, December 10th, 2005. Gilbert resident and Motorsports Hall of Famer Bob Bondurant will serve as honorary event chair.
From 1-4 PM on Sunday, December 11th , 2005, the public is invited to join in the excitement and “take a victory lap for kids with us” by celebrating at the Bondurant SuperKart School when the current Highest Go-Kart Mileage of 1,062.5 miles (1,709.9 km) set in 1997 by a team in Northern Ireland has been surpassed by an American karting team.
The Fast 4 Kids Foundation hopes to raise $50,000 to send children from Arizona hospitals and care facilities to the nationally recognized Victory Junction Gang Camp. Founded by actor Paul Newman, Kyle and Pattie Petty to honor Adam Petty, Victory Junction’s mission is to enrich the lives of children who suffer with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. Victory Junction’s 75 acre site has more than 36 buildings, including dining hall, gym, pool, theater, therapeutic center, arts and crafts center, race shop, and 16 camper cabins. The Victory Junction Gang Camp, which is also a charity of NASCAR, opened June of 2004 and is free to children and their families.
